Jet Technology Group, in collaboration with Fujifilm UK, recently hosted an event that underscored the growing opportunities in the digital packaging and value-added print industry. The event was designed to provide practical guidance and hands-on demonstrations, showcasing how businesses can leverage new technologies to enhance productivity and profitability. Steve, a key figure at Jet Technology Group, emphasized the collective experience of the team: “Myself, Andrew, Jason, Laurie – we’ve all been in the industry for many years. We wanted to share that experience and show people how they can make more money out of a flat printed sheet.” He highlighted that entering the short-run digital packaging sector is more affordable than many realize, thanks to advancements in digital printing, die-cutting, gluing, and perforating technologies. The event featured live demonstrations and one-on-one sessions with technology experts, offering attendees a firsthand look at application-led solutions that can drive business growth.

Andy Kent, General Manager of Fujifilm UK’s Graphic Communications Division, spoke about the strong partnership between Jet Tech and Fujifilm. He noted the significant expansion of Fujifilm’s digital portfolio, particularly with the launch of its print-on-demand business in April 2023. Kent emphasized the importance of collaboration: “We’ve built a showroom, we’ve built our sales, and we’re building partnerships. It’s wonderful to be here with Jet Tech, who we see as part of a wider ecosystem of long-term collaboration.” He described Fujifilm’s approach as a team effort, where technology plays a crucial role but is amplified by strong partnerships with sales and service providers like Jet Tech.

Phil Gaskin, XMPie Business Development Channel Manager, highlighted the integration of software solutions to automate and streamline production workflows. He demonstrated a fully automated web-to-print journey, from a customer ordering a greeting card via their smartphone to the final printed product. Gaskin praised Jet Tech’s industry expertise, stating, “Jet Tech is a fantastic company with a wealth of industry experience. For us, this is a great opportunity to learn from them and demonstrate how our software can automate, streamline, and diversify production.” This end-to-end workflow showcased the potential for businesses to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction through automation.

John Fennel, Technical Sales Specialist at Fiery, showcased the expanded color gamut achievable with Fujifilm’s new EC 2100 and 285 digital presses, which utilize Fiery’s pink toner technology. Fennel explained how this innovation allows printers to produce colors that were traditionally difficult to achieve, such as vibrant oranges, yellows, and reds. This capability enables printers to create more vivid and high-quality products, adding significant value for their clients. Fennel noted, “It’s a win-win,” as businesses can offer enhanced services while meeting customer demands more effectively.

Steve from Jet Technology Group emphasized the company’s commitment to excellence and customer care. He explained that the showroom is not just about selling machinery but about helping print businesses become more competitive and customer-focused. “The whole reason we started this was to become a company that delivers excellence. We want everyone who works with us or buys from us to feel looked after,” he said. By combining Jet Tech’s industry knowledge with Fujifilm’s service delivery, Steve believes they can offer a powerful package that supports business growth and innovation.

Drawing from his extensive experience in various roles within the print industry, Steve highlighted the challenges faced by printers today. He noted that the cut-sheet print market has become commoditized, making it essential for businesses to differentiate themselves by meeting customer needs more effectively. Over the past nine months, Jet Tech has seen significant success in the short-run digital packaging sector, including digitally die-cut boxes, cartons, foil-blocked finishes, and personalized products. Steve pointed out that these areas represent key opportunities for printers to stand out and grow in a competitive market.

The event made it clear that Jet Technology Group and its partners are dedicated to helping printers evolve and succeed in a rapidly changing industry. By connecting innovative technologies with practical, real-world applications, they aim to support businesses in enhancing their offerings and achieving long-term growth. The collaborative spirit of the event, combined with the expertise of Jet Tech, Fujifilm, XMPie, and Fiery, demonstrated a shared commitment to driving the industry forward and empowering printers to embrace new opportunities in digital packaging and value-added print.
