Nova Druck Acquires State-of-the-Art Komori Presses to Enhance Print Quality and Efficiency

Nova Druck, a leading print solutions provider based in Nuremberg, Germany, has announced a significant investment in its production capabilities with the acquisition of two advanced Komori printing machines: the GL-840P advance -EX – Autopilot (an 8-colour perfector press) and the GL-529 (a 5-colour press with coater). This strategic move, facilitated through Nova Druck’s long-standing partnership with Baumann, reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering superior print quality and maintaining its leadership in the printing industry.

Cutting-Edge Technology for Unmatched Performance

The Komori GL-840P advance -EX – Autopilot, purchased at the prestigious drupa 2024 exhibition, is a groundbreaking addition to Nova Druck’s production line. Known for its efficiency, precision, and automation, this press is the first conventional press in Europe equipped with the Autopilot feature. The Autopilot system revolutionizes offset printing by enabling fully autonomous production, automating tasks such as job changeovers, test printing, registration and colour control, and quality checks. This minimizes manual intervention, reduces downtime, and ensures consistent, high-quality results. A detailed demonstration of the Autopilot feature can be viewed on Komori Europe’s YouTube channel.

Julius Goppert, Managing Director of Nova Druck, expressed enthusiasm about the new acquisition: “The advanced features of the GL-840P advance – including the Autopilot function, full automation, and high productivity – allow us to streamline our workflows and enhance print quality. This investment is a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to meet the evolving demands of our customers.”

The GL-840P advance is designed to handle both high-volume and short-run jobs with ease, making it a versatile asset for Nova Druck. This ensures the company can deliver faster turnaround times while maintaining exceptional print quality, a key factor in today’s competitive market.

Empowering Operators and Enhancing Flexibility

The introduction of the Autopilot technology does not replace skilled press operators but instead empowers them to focus on quality assurance, planning, and optimization. This shift in workflow allows Nova Druck’s team to leverage their expertise more effectively while benefiting from reduced manual labor and improved consistency.

Complementing the capabilities of the GL-840P advance is the GL-529, a highly versatile 5-colour press with coating functionalities. This press is ideal for producing premium marketing and packaging materials, offering flexibility for small to mid-volume runs. Together, these two presses enable Nova Druck to expand its product portfolio and cater to a broader range of customer needs.

Both machines are integrated with Komori’s KP-Connect workflow software, which provides real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and optimized job scheduling. This seamless integration further enhances productivity and operational efficiency. The acquisition of these presses marks the seventh Komori press in Nova Druck’s history, underscoring the company’s trust in Komori’s technology and its commitment to continuous innovation.

Seamless Installation and Collaborative Support

The installation of the new presses was executed smoothly, thanks to the expertise and collaboration of Komori Europe and Baumann. Mirco Schröder, Sales Strategy Manager at Komori Europe, highlighted the significance of this investment: “This press isn’t just a machine – it’s a tool to help Nova Druck grow, innovate, and deliver top-quality results to their customers.”

Jürgen Lüke, Managing Director of Heinrich Baumann Grafisches Centrum GmbH, echoed this sentiment: “Our long-standing partnership with Nova Druck has always been built on mutual trust and a shared vision for innovation. We are delighted to support them in integrating these advanced Komori machines, which will greatly improve their production capabilities and reinforce their leadership in the market.”

A Legacy of Innovation and a Future-Ready Vision

Nova Druck’s relationship with Komori spans over two decades, beginning with its early adoption of Komori’s sheetfed offset presses renowned for their durability and precision. This latest investment reflects Nova Druck’s broader vision for smart, connected, and sustainable printing. Looking ahead, the company aims to integrate AI-driven planning tools and predictive data analysis into its workflows, positioning itself as one of Germany’s most agile and forward-thinking commercial printers.

With a focus on exploring new business models in packaging, personalization, and sustainable media, Nova Druck is well-equipped to adapt to changing market demands.
