The Epson ES-580W is an A4 desktop scanner that has many useful attributes for the user. A stand out feature is the ability to scan wirelessly, straight to a network, without the need for a personal computer. The large touchscreen (10.9 cm) and wifi connectivity make it easy to save your documents in the correct location. Customisable presets scan straight to cloud folders, email addresses, or external hard drives. Should you wish to scan using your Mac or PC, this is possible with Epson ScanSmart software. Further flexibility is offered with the Epson Smart Panel app which allows direct scanning from a smartphone or tablet.
The ES-580W A4 scanner has phenomenal Optical Character Recognition (OCR) producing very accurate results. Character recognition is precise down to a font size of 4pt on both serif (Times) and sans serif (Arial) typefaces. To put this into context, 4pt is the size of text on ‘check the small print’ documents.
Other useful features, on the ES-580W desktop scanner, include a 100-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) for scanning single/double sided pages and the ability to digitise receipts, business cards, laminated card, anything between 27-409 gsm. Epson have also included inbuilt sensors that ensure paper jams and double feeding are kept to a minimum.
