Sustainability: A Commitment to a Greener Future

HP Latex technology exemplifies a dedication to high performance and environmental responsibility. Central to this commitment is the use of water-based inks, which have been further enhanced to incorporate reclaimed water. Since September 2023, all HP Latex inks have utilized reclaimed water, addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity. Noelle emphasizes, “Water scarcity is a real issue, and HP is committed to addressing it in a meaningful way.”

Energy efficiency is another critical component of HP’s sustainability efforts. Olivia explains that while the curing process for Latex inks requires more power compared to UV ink technology, HP is continuously improving efficiency. Features like energy schedulers allow printers to automatically switch to low-power modes during off-hours, reducing energy consumption.

HP’s long-standing Planet Partners Program, initiated in 1991, plays a pivotal role in minimizing waste. The program enables customers to recycle ink cartridges, printheads, and even old machines. Noelle highlights a significant achievement: “We’ve transitioned from plastic cartridges to carton-based alternatives, reducing plastic use by 114 tonnes—equivalent to 57 double-decker buses!”

Olivia proudly states, “We like to think of ourselves as leaders in sustainability. Many are now following our initiatives, which validates the decisions we’ve made over the years.” Through innovative solutions and steadfast commitment, HP continues to lead the way in creating a greener future for the printing industry.
