GelatoConnect made a significant impact at FESPA 2025, showcasing its innovative software solutions for streamlining print shop workflows. Partnering with MH&P, the team discovered a strong demand among print shop owners, operations managers, and CTOs to learn more about integrating software to enhance efficiency. Minna Philipson, Gelato’s Chief Marketing Officer, was a central figure at the event, delivering a keynote titled ‘Why the Future of Print Is Personal – and What That Means for Your Business’ and co-hosting a session on ‘Branding & Marketing in the Print World’ with Georgette Sawan from MH&P. Both presentations garnered significant attention and sparked numerous follow-up conversations at GelatoConnect’s stand.

Philipson explained that the printing industry is undergoing a transformation, with shrinking print runs and a surge in SKUs due to the growing trend of personalisation. Despite this shift, many businesses still rely on manual processes and fragmented systems, leading to inefficiencies. GelatoConnect addresses these challenges by offering a modular operating system that automates every step of a digital order—from procurement and inventory management to workflow, printing, packing, and shipping. Philipson emphasised that the shift from producing large quantities of a single item to small, personalised runs requires a completely different workflow.

To illustrate the platform’s capabilities, Philipson shared an example of a major U.S. print service provider that had spent seven months digitising just 180 SKUs. GelatoConnect’s AI-driven onboarding process handled the provider’s entire 300,000-item catalogue in just eight days, with future onboarding expected to take mere seconds. This speed not only accelerates go-live timelines but also enhances the platform’s network value, as every new SKU becomes instantly available to other printers within the Gelato ecosystem.

Philipson highlighted the tangible benefits of GelatoConnect, including sub-0.35% error rates, 98% on-time dispatch, and 10–25% lower shipping costs within three months of implementation. However, she noted that the biggest hurdle to adoption is often mindset. Many print shops have operated the same way for decades, and convincing them of software’s transformative potential—comparable to investing in a new press—requires a significant shift in perspective.

GelatoConnect’s vision is straightforward: one print shop, one software. The platform currently excels in managing digital, product-based runs, including web-to-print and API-driven orders, which already account for about 25% of many shops’ revenues. Looking ahead, Philipson outlined a strategy of incremental development, adding new capabilities and modules in collaboration with customers and guided by real-world ROI targets. She stressed that the product roadmap is entirely shaped by customer needs, with a focus on solving complex administrative challenges.

The presence of GelatoConnect at FESPA underscored the growing importance of comprehensive software solutions in the printing industry. As personalisation continues to rise, software is becoming as critical to success as the presses themselves. The event demonstrated that GelatoConnect is at the forefront of this evolution, offering tools that empower print shops to adapt to changing demands and achieve greater efficiency.
